The Pathways Schools operates programs in Anne Arundel, Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, and provides integrated academic, therapeutic, and vocational and transition services through community-based programming for students, aligned to the Maryland State Department of Education and District of Columbia standards and curriculum. Placement offers students the opportunity to stabilize within an individualized milieu and gives them the option to earn a Maryland High School or District of Columbia High School Diploma, earn a High School Certificate of Program Completion, or prepare to take the GED as well as prepare for the transition to post-secondary life.
The Pathways Re-Entry programs support the successful mainstreaming of students in public school settings, allowing participation in a wide range of extracurricular activities with non-disabled peers. For the elementary and middle school level, Pathways operates an educational therapeutic program providing a supportive, structured environment facilitating students’ increased self-control and realization of personal, behavior, and academic goals. The focus of the program is to help students gain the social skills, self control, self-awareness, and academic and therapeutic skills necessary for success in school and preparation for the transition to high school. The school features an incentive based behavior management and prevocational programs. All academic courses are aligned to the Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum and core goals. Students also participate in required state assessments. Classrooms, offices, therapy, conference, and multipurpose rooms are available at the school’s location in Hyattsville.
