The Frost School, a member of Sheppard Pratt Health System, provides elementary, middle, and high school programs for children with emotional disturbance, learning disabilities, speech or language impairments, multiple disabilities, and for those with high functioning autism syndrome. Our small day school serves students needing a supportive and structured environment by combining academic and vocational preparation with daily counseling and weekly family and parent counseling and support group activity.
Academic work and counseling are integrated into the daily schedule to provide comprehensive treatment for troubled children and adolescents. Our students are referred to us for the treatment of a variety of educational, emotional and adjustment problems, including difficulties with school, peers, parents and self. Our school also serves as a transitional placement from residential treatment to an alternative placement.
Our school has expanded its programs for children and teens with emotional disturbance and high functioning autism to include vocational education. This program’s goal is to prepare our students for post-secondary needs for employment, independent living, education, training, and/or access to rehabilitative services. Our vocational program is designed so that, as students move through its various components, they spend increasing amounts of time in the community preparing themselves for the career in which they are interested. Mentoring, job coaching, and ongoing support are keystones to the success of our students as they prepare for adulthood.
The Frost School is a member of MANSEF and NAPSEC.
