The Foundation Schools provide a full continuum of educational services and therapeutic support to meet the academic and emotional needs of each student. The School curriculum includes all subjects required by the local school system. The comprehensive therapeutic day program includes diagnostic services; educational, psychiatric, psychological, social and medication evaluations; individualized educational and clinical programs that are designed to meet the diverse needs of students; drug and alcohol education, prevention and counseling; case management services to ensure collaboration with outside agencies, services and student treatment providers; transition services to ensure smooth transition to another setting; and intensive crisis intervention services. Staff at each school includes a school director, educational and clinical directors, a psychiatric consultant, certified special educators, a certified speech/language therapist, an occupational therapist, a certified behavior management specialist, and program and teacher assistants. The school is licensed to operate by the Maryland State Department of Education and approved by the District of Columbia Public Schools.
The Foundation Schools are affiliated with the Maryland Association of Nonpublic Special Education Facilities (MANSEF), and the National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC).
